Santos celebrates his cultural heritage through brightly colored sculptures and paintings. His use of tessellation, the process of creating patterns from close arrangements of shapes without overlap, evokes the Latin roots within his practice. Santos was raised in Honduras amongst the enduring legacy of the Mayan culture, and moved to the United States in 1985. Combining the fragmentation of his cultural experiences, Santos' wood pieces exemplify the unification of diverse remnants into one cohesive whole.
